Losing shopping cart and not logged in AFTER user does registration during checkout. (v4.60.2)

Hard for me to tell if this is a bug or a settings issue, but here is the behavior:

Notes:
-Nop version  4.60.2, and this worked fine in the previous versions we used.

-We have the URLs set to https so it is not bouncing between http and https, everything is always https in terms of what we can control.

-We have guest checkout disabled so yo have to register during checkout

Bug or issue description:
As soon as someone finished registration during checkout, they are not auto-logged in and have an empty cart, so we lose the transaction.

This issue extends to our affiliate links not working since the customer gets lost at the point they finished registration and not logged in and have an empty cart.

In previous versions this worked fine, they registered during checkout and once done they were logged in and were able to finish checkout fine.

Any ideas on what would cause this? Is there an admin setting that would cause this?

What is your Customer Settings > Registration method ?

Standard account creation
Email validation is required after registration
A customer should be approved by administrator
Registration is disabled
