Add a new property to product attributes (combined/non-combined). When generating (manually  or automatically) combinations, only the combinable attributes will be presented

When you have a product with several attributes it may well be that some are combinable, whose combination may form a new SKU with its own inventory, and some non-combinable are more used to add accesories. Example a shirt might have as combinable attributes sleeve size, neck size, color and material and can have other non-combinable such as initials embroidered (text and 2 options for embroidered in chest or cuff ) and cuff links (1 of 3 options which could well be associated products).

I'm currently thinking about better implementation of this task.

I think we should not add a new "Combinable" property to product attribute mapping. Anyway we already know that there are 4 attribute types which are non-combinable and entered by customers (textbox, multiline textbox, date picker, file upload). So we can simply ignore them and do not require a store owner to manually mark them as "Non-combinable" (makes it more easier to configure). But it does not cover the scenario described above ("2 options for embroidered in chest or cuff")

What do you think?

Hi Eduardo,

Done. Please see changeset 7dbbb44ab11e. Now they are hard-coded to attributes with the following attribute types: textbox, multiline textbox, file upload, date picker.

Please vote for this work item if you want to allow a store owner to define which exactly product attributes are non-combinable

Thanks Andrei. This was a good simple solution.  I voted +1 for this second workitem, since the first does not cover cases where attributes are accessories whose values are associated to other products, as in the case of the cufflinks.
