We use PayPoint for the payment gateway, which is 3d secure.

There is quite a bit of custom functionality for product importing, stock updating, Amazon order importing and a few other bits.

is there a limitation in numbers of products / categories ?

Not really... we have sites with 20k products no problem. The bigger you get the more enhancements in caching you will have to do.
