Slow initial loading time

Hi Guys,

I am new to Nopcommerce and have it installed on my server. Everything is fine other than when I come to load the site each day, the initial loading time can take anywhere up to 60 seconds. Once loaded, it's fast throughout. Is this a setting somewhere ? As once published, I think my customers will find the load time frustrating.

thanks

I think May be its because your machine on which you've installed nopcommerce is slow. Or try a different browser.

IIS will be put to idle state for every 20 minutes of inactivity. That means if you site is new, and is not getting page requests within 20 minutes, the server will be put to idle state until the next time a page request is made. And waking up from idle state is costly, thus the initial slow down.

If you are on shared hosting, there's basically very little you can do. You can try your luck with "Keep Alive" service, but I usually find it not very useful. nopCommerce even has its own Keep Alive code, which I also find not useful.

If you are on VPS or dedicated, then you can set such that IIS always stay awake even if there's no request coming in. :)

Thanks guys. The site is on a dedicated server. I will check IIS. Thanks

I have keep alive enabled, have verified that it's running successfully, but this initial load, like after the weekend, is very slow. Is there anything other than the keep alive that can help with this? I've thought about setting up something to just fetch a few primary pages, I don't know why the keep alive task isn't getting the job done, sounds like the same concept - but it's not. Has anyone tried to profile this to pin point what exactly is going slow? would probably be difficult to figure out.

I just noticed visiting one page doesn't seem to have much effect on the speed on another [stale] page. e.g. visiting home page will make reloading homepage fast, but have almost no effect on a category page. Seems like the keep-alive script is having the same lack of effect.

Hello there, I had the same problem with my old hosting company, I've switched to http://nopcommerce.host and I no longer have this frustrating problem.
