I'm sorry if this is covered somewhere else already, I'm new to working with programs like this, I am more of a hands on work with my hands kind of guy, but I need to learn this site for our business, I have a pretty good grasp on how to use most of the site as we need it, but I have questions..

Essentially, If we have several "products" that use interchangeable parts to build complete pieces, I want to know if there is a way, or a program out there that I can inventory individual attributes.  EXAMPLE: Knife Model A and Knife Model B. Handles are interchangeable, Different colors, and I have X amount of 1 and Y amount of another. Can Models A & B be inventoried separately from Handles from X & Y?

I'm not sure this makes any sense to anyone but me, but for our specific business, I need to find something to inventory pieces separately across several different product models, so we don't keep overselling and having the out of stock issues..

if anyone has pointers or would like to see what I have going on to better understand, I would be greatly appreciated..

again I'm a new bee here and apologize  for asking if this has been answered else where..

Each product atribute value can be associated to a product. So in both models A and B create a product  atribute (Color) whose values will be associated to each handle color. Thus the selection of colors in any mo the models will affect handles inventory,

I understand that, but I don't see anywhere I can put in amounts of each "handle" color, only can put inventory amounts for each "blade" therefore when a handle becomes out of stock, it can still be chosen as a option across all the patterns, and causing my biggest inventory issue, I need to know if there is an option or a plug in that lets me inventory individual product attributes across all of our "main" products.

thank you

I guess I missed to explain that you have to create handles as a product, one product for each handle color, where you assign the corresponding stock. Then associate each handle to each color atribute value of your knife.

Note: If you don't sell handles individually uncheck their Visible individually option

this helps a little bit, I am very new to this stuff, so I am trying to learn and teach myself as we go, you wouldn't happen to know of any current sites using nopcommerce that has the same kind of ideal being used, as I am describing, would you?
