Support and accessories shop

We're building a support and shop for accessories/parts to existing customers. They have bought a machine and we need a shop that can handle spare parts, accessories and also support documents etc.

We think that we will build like a support site like for example support.hp.com, where you enter your serialnumber, we look it up in a table, get the model number. Then we would like to display all products related to that specific model. The displayed accessories and parts should be able to be displayed in a category tree.

A product (spare part for example) can be linked to multiple model numbers.

Is this something you think I can fix in nopCommerce, or will it require alot of remodeling and development?
I'm guessing that the model number link needs some support tables, the search function may need to be updated and also the category listing based on what products that model has will also be hard to find "out of the box".

Anyone done something similar, or have an idea about what of a challenge I'm facing?
