I use worldpay or papyapl standard. The customers buys something and click confirm order. Email to the customer and to store owner is sent at this point.
Then the customer is redirected to paypal to enter his credit card details. If the credit card is declined then customers has already received an email saying his order has been received, and so is store owner - received an email that somebody placed an order.
Did it happen to anyone or it's just me?

Thanks

I'm trying to figure out how to remedy the same thing. We have had a number of confused customers contact us regarding this. We also have customers who contact us days later saying they got an email saying the order went through and still dont have their product. Then when we check the status, paypal shows that the transaction never was fully completed.
If anyone wants to test this out go to our store @ nanotch.net/nanotchstore, select a product to purchase and go through the checkout procedure up untill you are directed to Paypal. Once at Paypal dont do anything and eventually you'll get an email.
Hopefully there is an easy fix.

If you want to change the wording of the email that is sent to your customers when they submit an order, you can. It's in the admin area > Content Management > Templates > Message Templates > OrderPlaced.CustomerNotification

I have re-written my content to advise the customer that the order has been received but is subject to payment confirmation. It's also a good idea to include a link to your terms and conditions of sale.

Hi, it's good to re-word the email accordingly so customers know that order is pending further to payment. BUT, let's say the customer fail to pay the first time due to technical difficulties or other reasons, is there ANY option for the customer to try making the payment again later?

It seems like there isn't any option for customers to make payment again, and they must recreate another new order. This is very inconvenient for customers.

Is there a button that redirect customers to make payment for those status pending? I don't seems to find one.

I've been worried about the problem of customer confusion, too, when they get this e-mail.   But I just noticed that in the settings for this e-mail (OrderPlaced.CustomerNotification) there is a checkbox at the bottom that specifies if the message is Active or not.  Would making sure it's unchecked solve the problem?

Also, assuming this works, if the store owner doesn't want to get confused you could uncheck the same box in the OrderPlaced.StoreOwnerNotification message.
