Display Categories Issue

Hi,
Can any one help me.
1.how to hide categories from the categories list.
2. how to set categories list size.

1.how to display price for bestsellers on home page
2. how to  create more sections like best seller products and featured products.
3. how to give option(view more option) for feateured products(i am displaying 5 images on home page. if i click on view more i need to display 30 images)
