Shipping options could not be loaded, USPS, depending on products in cart

ok, I just launched my webstore (3.6) using the USPS (US Postal Service)
Version: 1.28 as my only shipping option, using priority and priority express for usa shipping and priority international and priority express international for the international shipping methods.  I have my USPS account in production mode, everything tested great before going live.  now if I add 2 specific products to the cart it will not compute the shipping and throw the error.  if I change the quantities of both those 2 products to 2 each the shipping calculates correctly.  if I change either of them back to 1 it throws the error.  I can add other products and then it calculates no matter how many of the original 2 I have in the cart.  my USPS url is http://production.shippingapis.com/ShippingAPI.dll

if I change the country it works, if I remove one of the 2 specific products it works, I just cannot have both in there together with 1 quantities it seems.  the application has crashed and restarted 4 times now while trying to diagnose this.

is this the scenario if USPS didn't actually put me into production mode?

Check your System > Log.  Any error messages?

1st product
shipping enabled
weight = 9 lbs
length = 20 in
width = 16
Height = 12

2nd product
shipping enabled
weight = 15
l=36
w=12
h=8



I have now found that if I select another product with the 36x12x8 dimensions that is can go in place of product 2 and still get the error.  

is USPS trying to add the dimensions together and thus becoming too large?

i would love to be more specific for you on any error fromt he application restart but I do not know where to see this error.   when it goes into this restart of the application,  the page will become not found and then a few minutes later the store will load back up.  one time it gave a database not found error page.


the shipping calculator error is "Shipping options could not be loaded" when I click estimate shipping.  

I am seeing that I can add many individual small items into the cart and it calculates fine but once I add something with a dimension over 26" inches I am seeing the issue.  I haven't narrowed down whether it has todo with 1 dimension of volume or how USPS even calculates the dimensions of a box with multiple items

Have you done any customization, or are you using any 3rd party plugins?
Can you set up a demo store and reproduce it?

I am using a nop-templates core/theme,  paypal 1.24 plugin,  a bitshift firstdata cc processing plugin and a sw solutions exchange email plugin

I did not get this error in the test environment although I wasn't specifically trying to achieve it

Hello:

I have an issue as well with the application indicating that I have no shipping methods established. In fact, I do have Canada Post configured and installed. It was working OK prior to version 3.70. This is the message I am getting now in my System Log:

Shipping (Canada Post). An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions 198.33.104.28:30000
