Over ridding _Root.cshtml?

How can I override _Root.cshtml once its in the themes folder?  I've copied _Root.cshtml over to 'themes/(theme)/views' but its not overriding the original _root file.  What do I need to do?

Why do you need _root.cshtml file in themes folder?

I have the same question as Lith, if you’re coming up with a completely new look and feel it could be necessary to override the _root.cshtml.  Is this supported?  How would one achieve this?
