Is a gateway required to take credit cards on-line?

Is it possible to accept credit card information through the shopping cart and then we can run the card manually? Or do we need to have a gateway and on-line merchant account?

If we do have to have a gateway, is this software compatible with First Data?

Thanks!

Yes, you set credit card for payment (during checkout process).

Go to Admin section > Payments Methods

ENABLE 4th option (By default it is "Activated")

Credit Card  Configure     Payments.Manual

Like I mentioned above (By default is it "Activated") - You can test the checkout process on the demo website - http://demo.nopcommerce.com/

Once you receive customer's credit card details- you can use 3rd party software (like quickbooks) to charge the card.

In the payment methods you will also see "Payments.PayPalDirect" - It basically means that customer will pay with credit or debit card on your website and you will get money to your paypal account.

I'm working on it now, for NOP 1.9.
As soon as I get Arvixe to open the damn port 1129 (they are taking forever) I can test it.
