Unnamed variants

Hi there. I can't seem to find the answer to a question so here I am on the forum.

In the 'product variant' screen each product has an "unnamed variant".  My customer only has one product per product. Actually, they are cookies.  So each cookie is a product.  Should I name the "unnamed variant" the same as the corresponding cookie or leave it as is?

Is it necessary to fill out all the info (description, photo, etc) on the "unnamed variant"? Or is that only to describe alternate versions of a product, say shoes?

Sorry if this is elementary but I want to get it right!

So you dont have to bother with the variant names, descriptions, etc.
