Please give detailed steps for a godaddy install/upgrade
14 years ago
Hi,

I have managed to install this on Godaddy. With help from people on this forum so I thought I would try and help you.

1. Create the folder you want Nop Commerce to go into.
1a. FTP all Nop Commerce Files into the folder.

2. Go into your Hosting Control Panel. Click Content, then file manager.
2a. Navigate to the folder you created and but a tick next to it, then click the permissions button.
2b. Untick Inherit then, Tick Read, Write & Reset all children to inherit. Then press ok.

Once you have done this you have configured the folders permissions correctly. Now Return to the main hosting control panel.

3. Select Databases then SQL Server. Create a new database. You do not need to install DSN or ASP Schema.

4. Once the database is setup click Manage Via web admin & Login using your database username and password.

4a. Expand the tools folder on the left (if it is not already) and click on Query Analyzer.

4b. Now Press Open SQL File. Navigate to the Install/Scripts File withing Nop Commerce on your local machine and open nopCommerce_createDatabase.sql once this has opened press Execute. This will create the tables.

4c. Once it has finished creating the tables, make sure you delete everything in the text box and then do the same as above except open nopCommerce_createData.sql and Execute this.

4d. Once this has finished if you want to install sample data do the same as above with nopCommerce_createSampleData.sql however this is optional.

You have now setup you database correctly. The final thing to do is to amend your ConnectionStrings.config file.

5. Open this file on your local machine with a text editing program such as notepad.
5a. Modify and insert this line:

<add name="NopSqlConnection" connectionString="Data Source=INSERTHOSTNAME;Initial Catalog=INSERTDATABASENAME;User ID=INSERTUSERNAME;Password=INSERTPASSWORD;"/>

You can find all the information you need if you click the little pencil icon next to your database in the hosting control panel.

Once you have done this your ConnectionStrings.config file should look like this.

<connectionStrings>
<add name="NopSqlConnection" connectionString="Data Source=INSERTHOSTNAME;Initial Catalog=INSERTDATABASENAME;User ID=INSERTUSERNAME;Password=INSERTPASSWORD;"/>
</connectionStrings>

5b. Save this file and FTP it to your Nop Commerce Folder on your web server replacing the existing one.

Everything should now be setup. Now navigate to the store in your web browser.

The default email is: [email protected] and the default password is: admin

Hope this helps.

I've also had similar problems and faithfully walked thru these directions.  I can see the data in the database, but when I go to run the install.aspx or when I just go straight to the default.aspx page of the website, I get:

Thanks!

Have you tried the easy way to install?  I still would like to know how to upgrade without erasing everything I created. To install on godaddy, go here, but select nopcommerce instead of zencart. http://www.geraelindsey.com/zencart-1-3-8-tutorials/how-to-install-zencart-at-godaddy

I am trying to paste it below:
How to install ZenCart at GoDaddy
By: Gerae Lindsey

If you host your domain at GoDaddy and want to install ZenCart, forget about FTP! Just click and let GoDaddy handle the install for you. Here are the simple steps you need to take.

First, login to your GoDaddy hosting control panel.

Once logged in, choose “Go Daddy Hosting Connection” under the “Content” tab:

installwpgodaddy1

The following screen will then appear:

installwpgodaddy2

To the left, click on the link “eCommerce Solutions”

installzencartgodaddy1

The menu will expand with options. Click on “ZenCart”

installzencartgodaddy2

When the next screen appears, click on “Install Now!” to start the installation.

installzencartgodaddy3

You will then be asked to choose a domain to install ZenCart on. Click on the button next to the domain:

installzencartgodaddy4

Scroll down and click on “Continue”

GoDaddy will now set up the database for ZenCart. You will need to enter a password the database.

installzencartgodaddy5

After entering your password, click on “Next”

You will need to specify the folder to install ZenCart. You can name the folder anything, for example: zencart, store, shop. You can also leave the box blank to have ZenCart installed into the root directory.

installzencartgodaddy6

Click on “Next” to continue.

You now need to enter some basic details about your ZenCart store:

installzencartgodaddy7

   1. Admin Name – enter an admin name (example: admin, owner)
   2. Admin Password – enter a password to access the store admin area
   3. Email – enter your email address
   4. Full Name – enter your full name
   5. Store Name – enter your store name
   6. Address – enter the address you want to appear on receipts

After entering your information, click on “Finish” to finish the installation.

The following screen should now appear:

installzencartgodaddy8

That is it, GoDaddy will now install ZenCart for you!
