Administration Categories Control

I am getting frustrated with the admin categories control because it has to load everything. I have over 12,000 products and 1300 categories and I haven't finished loading all of my products yet. It is taking a long time to load the admin screen. Has anybody redesigned this control so it doesn't load everything?

Try to set a value of "Display.HideProductsOnCategoriesHomePage" setting to "true"
