I did notice that our thumbnails all look very pixelated, and I was wondering if there is any fix for this.

Improved image generation will be available in the next release.

I did a little digging in the code, and I have fixed the image issues, I look forward to seeing the tweaks in the next release.

This PictureManager.cs (for version 1.3) produces better thumbs:

Recompile your project with this file.
Upload changed files in bin to webserver.
Delete all files in folder images/thumbs.
Clear browser cache.

This code creates a little bit crisper thumbnails bellow 200 pixels:
