I don't know if its an issue with my environment. I am using v2.4 and IE 9. The steps are:
1) Disabled the "show shopping cart after a product is added" setting
2) Added a product and the message box appears that the product is added to your cart
3) Refresh the page and the product gets added again even though the "add to cart" button was not pressed and the message box is again displayed
A new product is added to cart every time page is refreshed

OK yes there is the alert displaying the explanation not to press retry or the product will be added again. Firstly no one reads messages like these :-) they just press retry.
Secondly, when you press cancel the product is not added but the message box still displays "The product has been added to the cart".
