Anyone solved the issues for version 1.90 with categories over 1,000? Basically have an older site now with 3 tiers of categories. e.g. parent > child > sub-child. There are 1,020 categories in total.
The performance is not to a commercial standard and we're starting to look at the following (after searching the forums):
1. Review optimisations in version 2.0-2.5 and see what methodologies etc can be migrated backwards to old version 1.90.
2. Update the category and/or product stored procedures manually to be optimised.
Worth noting, so far we have tried:
1. Disabling show distinct product count in categories/sub-categories.
2. Disable best sellers, disable recently viewed etc.
3. Remove javascript from a custom hover menu system.
Any suggestions or has anyone solved performance issues for 1.90 with large categories or product records?
Perhaps moving the site to 2.5 is the best answer? Hopefully not as this is an older website development and has customisations that would be time effort and price costly to upgrade to 2.5 now.
