404 error on installation

Ive uploaded the unzipped files onto my hosts server, but when i access the website it says the below:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Im using an appache server if that will make any difference? can easily change it to windows if that could be the problem.

Ive changed to the windows 03 server and will see how that works out.
