Preferred Customer subscription section

I would like to provide a "Preferred Customer" section to my site where folks pay a nominal fee to access special features on the site, get special discounts, etc.

If anyone has suggestions for going about this, I would really appreciate your input.

you can set up customer roles to allow special discounts for selected customers - i guess you could have a non existant  product they could 'buy' - after they 'buy' it, you could apply a special discount role to them

as far as having special areas? i dont know - maybe create a topic and give the url to them via email so that only people you give the url to can acesss it. Maybe not such a practical solution, maybe someone has better.
