Upgrade from 2.65 to 2.80 The controller for path '/login' was not found or does not implement IController.

First post on here.

I upgraded my site from 2.65 to 2.80 successfully, or so I thought!

First couple of hours and everything seemed fine, then in the Administration panel, I tried to clicked on configure on the Facebook plugin and the site produced an error and now wont let me login.

I wondered if anyone else has had the same problem? And or if you might know whats causing it and how to fix it?

It looks like you are using NET framework 4.0.  Starting with 2.7 (if I recall), NET 4.5 is required.

Yes, you are on .NET 4.5. We only offer .NET 4.5 on our Windows 2012/IIS8 servers. The error message is misleading in this case. Microsoft never updated it. .NET 4.5 is consider an in-place upgrade of .NET 4.0 which may be why you are seeing that version number. We decided not to perform an in-place upgrade of the Framework for our older servers because it had the potential to "break" many of our customer's applications (e.g. referencing different versions of assemblies). When nopCommerce 2.65 was deployed to a server that had a .NET 4.5 Framework, it didn't work. That's why the developers came out with version 2.70 and 2.80.


NopCommerce is ASP.NET application and the error is thrown by application, not the IIS server, therefore it has nothing to do with IIS 8 server. The only reason to upgrade to IIS 8 server is because ASP.NET 4.5 framework is available on IIS 8 server only.


So it's the application creating the error.

I am going to re-upload it to my root and see if I get the same error.

The Microsoft apps now install version 2.80, so you have the option to install nop through the web app installer and restore your current database to the new installation. There is a new stylesheet with version 2.80 which makes upgrading slightly trickier. Your hosting should give you access to the Microsoft App Installer.

I am hosting many nop Commerce sites version 2.65 and 2.80 running on ASP.NET 4.5 and using IIS7.5. The problems with upgrading to .NET 4.5 were to do with something called FluentValidation - there are plenty of posts about it in this forum. Furthermore they were fixed fairly quickly. I received plenty of helpful advice from my hosting and here on the forum. That reply blaming the application is not helpful at all.


I noticed you are in the UK and are with a nopCommerce hosting partner - I wasn't aware there was a UK based partner?
