jquery-ui... whats it actually used for?

jquery-ui-1.10.3.custom.js is 426KB which to me seems crazily large for one script.
What is it actually used for does anyone know?

Thew same goes for kendoui really, I thought this was predominantly used in the admin area so wondering what its actually used for in the public site?
