What is the use of meta keywords option within each product ?

what is the use of SEO/meta keywords in EACH PRODUCT ?

i am little confused, the in admin section > Global settings > meta keywords / description, i added meta keywords and description for my website to stand in the search engines.

but i see , when i edit any product (Admin Section > Catalog > Products > Manage Products ) there is a SEO Tab for each product and when i select that tab, i get meta keywords/ description options for each product

Now, what is the use of these meta keywords ? and what is the difference between these meta keywords and the one that is in Global settings ? if i add meta keywords here how it will affect the website ?

Please explain me in details...

Every page requires SEO for good ranking.

When u had set meta tags, description and keywords in Global Settings, they were for HOME PAGE only.

When you edit any product (Admin Section > Catalog > Products > Manage Products ) there is a SEO Tab for each product and when u select that tab, u set meta keywords/ description for each product, as each product is a dynamic separate page.

Open any product page and view source of it, you will see nothing in meta tags if u haven't set them in (Admin Section > Catalog > Products > Manage Products ).

i got the idea - so if there are 10,000 product , each needs to be set by the admin for meta keywords/ description, to display product pages or to make them stand upon on the search engines ?

Though meta description tags are not a major factor search engines consider when ranking sites, they should not be left off the page. here you can define meta keywords / description of your online store/website or in simple words you can define your store how i explained above

after that you can define meta keywords / description for each product on your website , by going here :  Admin section >  Catalog   >   Products   >   Manage Product > choose any product (Edit it)

you will also see this "Experience the wide world of Apple at the Apple Store. Shop for Apple computers, compare iPod and iPhone models, and discover Apple and third-party"

this is the meta description of apple website that describes their products and services.

what you have to do with google in order to get your website a good ranking in search engine

For this you have to have the sitemap/XML of your whole website, now this arises these questions:

1) How to generate sitemap/xml ?

2) what's the use of generating SITEMAP/XML ?

3) how it is related with SEO ?

4) what do we do with sitemap/XML file , we save it somewhere ? export it somewhere in google ?

Answers:

1) go to your website: www.Yourwebsite.com/sitemapSEO.aspx > you will see sitemap/XML of your website, save this file
2) It lets google index your site better.
3) If google indexes your site better then also inner pages in the site will appear in google search.
4) Register with google webmaster tools, then submit your sitemap there

These are the step to submit your sitemap to google

Follow these steps:

1. Go to Google Webmasters Tools
2. Add your website
3. Verify the website (follow the steps or google for 'google verify website')
    You can Verify by more than 1 method:
    a) Google gives you some code to insert in your page, copy the code and paste it in your default page
    b) Second option (if you don't wanna go with first option), you will see right next to Verifying site, there is a drop down menu, in that menu select verify by adding google.html page, it gives you a HTML page, just add that page in nopCommerceStore folder

4. Open the google webmaster website details (dashboard)
5. Click Siteconfiguration > Sitemaps
6. Add a sitemap. It will popup a small box with a textbox; type sitemapseo.aspx in the textbox
7. Click Send Sitemap. The small box will disappear and a line will be displayed with a small clock.
That's it!

Google will now verify the sitemap and will display the number of pages that are in the sitemap

Remember you can get the sitemap (xml) of yuor website by : www.yourwebsite.com/sitemapseo.aspx
