Need no catagories on Home Page

Alright so I am wanting to display my categories in the navigation to the left and not on my home page. I want my home page setup with a large logo/welcome image and my facebook, news feed sign up box beneath it.

As of right now it shows up fine, but that means that the categories get pushed down further. I don't want them to show up at all on the home page.

So what line of code needs deleted or is there something in admin control that I can change to stop my main categories from showing up on the home page?

To disable categories on the home page:
1. Go to Administration > Catalog > Categories
2. Under Manage Categories, uncheck the checkbox that says "Show on the main page:"
3. Click the "Save" button.
