Ignore featured products does not work?

i think it is a bug, i checked Ignore featured products (sitewide)

still products show in featured products on homepage.

yes i have products where option is checked for show on homepage but by name it sound this option should override everything. if i have to go to each product then uncheck show on homepage then what is the use of this option?

"Show on home pag" products are not featured. Featured are product which have "Is featured" checkbox ticked when mappnig to categories or manufactuters. This setting is used for performance optimization.

I experienced the exact same issue today.
Turned out this setting was true: catalogsettings.showproductsfromsubcategories

Changed to false, problem gone

In the nopcommerce version 4.1, just remove all products under "Featured products". Then, it will not show in the home page.
How to remove the "Featured products"?
Admin > Catalog > Products > untick "show on home page"
