Auctions func really makes sense from an economics point of view. But so far, attempts to run them from an e-boutique has not been very successful.
We have even seen reverse auctions with a price falling down every 2 or 5 minutes on merchants' e-boutiques two years ago. They stopped because the assumptions on the traffic and auctionnners willing to participate live (while they are at their office) is too demanding.
Merchants still link to ebay for unique products (holding stock = 1).
So I understand that nop team does not invest on this func for now. It makes good sense. But it does not mean that it is a definitive NO.
