Topics pages and changing the /t/ value for SEO purposes

We are currently on 3.2 and our SEO experts have recommended changing or removing the /t/ in our URLs. Are there any options to change the URL. For example www.domain.com/t/faq to www.domain.com/about/faq or www.domain.com/faq.

The reasoning is that they say Google values names over letters.
