Is there a way to offer separate pricing for members who come in using an affiliate link?

We'd like to offer a discount to those coming in from a given link.
Would this require separate stores?
Any ideas?

This is not available out of the box. If you create a second store anyone getting into it will get the other pricing, regardless if it came from an affiliate or not

Not sure what you meant by "If you create a second store anyone getting into it will get the other pricing"

The simplest way I've figured so far is:
1. Have affiliate send customer to site via generated affiliate link.
2. Customer registers, assigning themselves to the affiliate.
3. Have customer purchase free product that assigns this customer new a special Customer Role that has Tier Pricing.

Does this sound right?

Never mind about the second store.

Your proposal sounds good, but keep in mind that anyone that purchases that free product could get the special customer role. You can hide it by not assign it to any category

Yes, that was the plan, to have a hidden product.
