how do you deal and proceed "unpaid orders" in your shop?

Problem: Unpaid orders block inventory

Any solution to automatically release this "blocked inventory"?
inventory is released again, if order status is changed to "cancelled"

Concept solution to change "order status" by scheduled timer task function

e..g a task (/Admin/ScheduleTask/List) for each incoming order, if payment status is "pending" for over 24h then change Order status from "Pending" to "Cancelled"

Front end: Customer account requirement:
Would it be possible to integrate a "Cancel Order" Button in "My order page"
