Multiple payment methods

If I would like to use one payment method (Elavon Converge) for some orders and another (Stripe) for other orders, is this supported?

This is because I would like to potentially use Stripe for recurring products and Converge for non-recurring products (95% of product through Converge which offers us better terms).

The documentation at http://docs.nopcommerce.com/display/en/Recurring+product mentions "Note: at least one of the active payment modules should support recurring payments." Not really sure what this means.
