Has anyone implemented canonical tags including rel=next and rel=prev according to Google's best practices? I know there is a canonical URLs config option but without rel=next and rel=prev implemented alongside it seems this may do more harm than good. There is a work item here but it's been moved from release 3.8 to 3.9 to 'on hold / maybe won't'. That's a bit shocking with SEO being a pretty important.

I am aware of these posts but neither fully address the issue or contain details on how to implement correctly.

Would like to know if anyone has implemented correctly according to what Google wants to see.
