Multiple Databases - Catalog,Config tables in one DB & Customer,Orders related tables in another DB

Hi,

I was looking if we can have Catalog,config related tables into one DB & Customer,Order related tables into different DB. Is this possible?
Generally this segregation can be seen in Many other E-Comm like in ATG or Micros OCP platforms.

Can we do this and we need this for better performance.

You'd have to heavily alter the core which isn't recommended. We have a very old v1.90 instance that has all catalog (product) data in a separate db. However that site is only nop in namespace now. So its possible but not easy.

Were you able to find a solution for this? I'm looking for something similar where i want catalog, Transactions, User Data in separate Databases. Haven't found anyone who has implemented such solution yet.
