Specifying the column layout

Am I correct in my understanding that in order to switch between 1, 2, and 3 column layouts I must edit the MasterPageFile page attribute for all (affected) pages?

I am new to ASP.NET. My boss assigned me a project to his storefront using the purchased darkOrange from NopCommerce. For more than a week now, I've studied how files control one another and all that and I could see some files are behaving a bit funny. eg: when I removed the logo.gif from "App_Themes\darkOrange\images" directory and obviously the logo would disappeared from the site, but when I tried to replace the logo in the master.css file or in the above directory, it'd have no effect whatsoever. Can anyone tell me? Your help is appreciated!
