how do you protect the source file location for digital files?

is it better to use a url or action file for digital downloads?

unless you choose to give a download url, the digital file is stored in the database so cannot be accessed unless through the store -

then it can be accessed by the customer who downloads it

I'm setting up a download url as the download/play page will issue a DMR certificate to allow the movie to be played on the computer, how do I protect the download url so it's only accessable to someone who has bought the product?
