How warehousing works?

Hi, I would like to know how the warehouse management is working.

I have two warehouses.
If I assign two items to the different warehouses, and a customer will buy both items, the shipping fees will be double? (As there is the need of two different shipments)

As far as I know the warehouse property is only really for reference, it does not have any logic attached to it (calculating shipping rates etc.)

But if now itis just a placeholder, in the future it should be like that, right?
