nopcommerce using web services API ?

Has anyone tried to connect nopCommerce website with web services API in such a way that they can pull product information from vendor's or manufacturer's side directly ?

I know this features is in t he roadmap of nopCommerce for 2.0 version, but has anyone tried to add this feature yet?
