Issue with Mini shopping cart - NOP 1.6

I notice that the mini shopping cart in the LHS navigation - will show the correct value of products in the basket, but will only show the number of different items. if you have 3 of one product, it only counts as 1.

has anyone else found this? is there a solution?

i don't quite understand how this works - in the changes that you pointed me towards there were four files that needed changing including one that was in a documents folder in NopCommerceStore area.

I cannot locate a documents folder. what am i doing wrong?
