If you don’t like NopCommerce, don’t use it. If you are unhappy about the forum, don’t go there.
According to your profile you haven’t even asked a question. But with a little imagination you might have asked one question:
‘A generic error occurred in GDI+.
The answer is posted here on in the forum (61 times). Look at https://www.nopcommerce.com/boards/search.aspx?searchterms=error+occurred+in+gdi
One thing about NopCommerce, Mr. Mazoulnitsyn probably works day and night with NopCommerce. Be polite.
There are several things about NopCommerce that I don’t like. I would never complain about it. There is no way Mr. Mazoulnitsyn (that does the work) can please everybody.

@Carl-Johan Larsson

This posting was not for your amusement as such, and my point stands....would it not be better to have a documented approach at the problems rather than having to ask 61 times. If the first posting was specific enough to answer the question or a valid solution had been documented, would there be a need for 61 different people asking thesame question. Makes me wonder why you replied in the first place...offering no help or support what-so-ever.

I can understand your post.

For me the following were difficult:
- Installation (documentation?, install with or without code?)
- Importing is not how it should be (The code wasn't working)
- Styling the CSS (add more examples, templates)

Too many starters get lost in this and stop using nop. Maybe add some moderators to help you out with support. You can't spend all that time developing and do the support in this forum too.

@ajhvdb

Thanks for this approach, nop commerce is great and the developer(s) fantastic, hence why i think it's high time developers should have a valid support document.

By the way:

Picture upload problem: Web application needed Full trust level under -- Security -- .Net trust levels [Or via web.config]

Export to excel: Same as above

A generic error occurred in GDI+. : The account running the IIS application pool needs read/write access on wwwroot/application folder

IMO the best "support document" would be a wiki where we (the users) can contribute to.
If the nop-team hasn't the resource for specific tasks, they should crowdsource it.

Hello Nopcommerce,

I am becoming increasingly fed-up with the unhelpful attitude of your support function. So it's OK to accept £20 for the admin guide which is just a bunch of pretty pics and decide to be snubby and unambigous with real problems this package has in it.

Try this for size and tell me why i have to waste several hours just to upload a picture to products and have NOTHING to go on past "Edit trust levels" are we 9 years old again, looking for clues!!!

Document known problems and stop being a techno snub!!! what you want a throne and sceptre for writing an e-commerce template!!??

Fix or document:

Picture upload

Export to excel

A generic error occurred in GDI+.

Pathetic having to google half baked ideas all the time that end up causing more problems and sending my work back several more hours.

I'm soooo livid, i'm going for a walk rather than smashing my screen or hoping someone responsible for this rolls under a bus.

I'm sorry - you're not happy with the FREE opens source eCommerce solution you downloaded??!

nopCommerce doesn't come with a support contract. It does however have a great community who are happy to help on these forums (although with an attitude like yours I don't think you will get much help). If you are want dedicated support, why not look for a developer or contact one of the nopCommerce solution partners.

The items you have listed (picture upload and export to excel) are not specific to nopCommerce. In any .net application, if you are writing files to disk then ASP.NET needs write permissions. Export to excel doesn't work in medium trust, again this is not specific to nopCommerce, it's just a limitation of using the ODBC drivers to do the export.

Why it took you several hours to find the answers to these problems I don't know as a quick search on these forums (or google) provides the solutions.

To be honest, it's people like you who put me off contributing to open source projects. You are happy to download something for FREE but when it doesn't do everything you want you throw your toys out.

If a few installation problems are enough to make you want to smash your screen or wish death on people then I think you have serious problems.

Finally, if you continue to make posts like this you will be banned from these forums.

Good day.

@Ben Foster

Dear Ben Foster,

Seems rather hash indeed I must say from you, especially if in my first posting "i'm going for a walk "rather" than smashing my screen or hoping someone responsible for this rolls under a bus." Rather in English would mean NOT hence I am in no way wishing anything un-towards....i hope you get this joke. Missing my second post reply "@ajhvdb

Thanks for this approach, nop commerce is great and the developer(s) fantastic"

Also my posting has attracted such valid suggestions like this from Pronux

"IMO the best "support document" would be a wiki where we (the users) can contribute to.
If the nop-team hasn't the resource for specific tasks, they should crowdsource it.
"

I think you have missed the point here and as a true gentleman NopCommerce developer(s), I'm sure you will find time to reflect and apologize in time.

dipopo,

I trust you made an error in saying Ben or anyone else should apologize for your ignorance.  FREE means YOU need to do some work on your own “even if it feels like your wasting your time”, ether by research or learning how to debug code – and don’t forget to share with others your findings. Why, even you could setup a wiki for the community, just don’t be upset if people insult you when their problem can’t be found in it.

Maybe you should try ASPDNSF or Magento, they have support plans that you can utilize, just google them for pricing. Then when you’re ready to return here, have your apology ready for the nop team.

Just to be clear here, don’t shout out at people that GIVE you something that would otherwise cost you thousands of dollars, instead try to be more elegant in conveying your message.

Lastly, try this for size, why should Ben, the nop team, or community, WASTE there time on you?

Ben - and all other involved in this project – you have done a GREAT job and don’t be bewildered by the “I spent $20.00 you owe me everything” attitude of a few thankless people out there.

I deeply appreciate ALL the efforts everyone has given to a product that shows nothing but determination for perfection.

He's taking the piss.
If you don't have the ability and/or capability to understand how search functions work, you shouldn't be using this software (or any open source software, for that matter).
You probably should have smashed your screen.
