2 Design bugs in checkout process of 1.8 version

1st Bug)

When a customer checkout from the store, there is a GREEN DOT that goes along with the progress of checkout process.
It only works in current versions of browsers like I.E 8 or Mozilla 3.6.12 and Chrome 7.0.5

The GREENDOT doesn't show / appear in other (or previous) browser versions like I.E 7,Mozilla 3.6.12 - etc

2nd Bug)

When a customer checkout from the store (in 1 page checkout)
The position of "Modify" button is being displayed incorrectly in all the previous versions of browser (same as stated above)

Has this been resolved? It seems to be a DOCTYPE problem, and is occuring in version 1.6 (the version I'm using) of NopC.

I've tried forcing compatablity with this meta tag in the page head of the Root.master: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" />

But has no impact. converting the doctype to html 4.0 or latest mode does not help either.

Does anyone have any idea how to force the NopCommerce page rendering mode to use IE 8 standard??
