There is a bug in password protected pages feature.
For an instance, let's say I want to lock About Us page by a password.
Now I will go to admin section > Content Management > Topics
Choose "About Us" Click on "EDIT"
now I will check " Is password protected" and type the password and SAVE
now "About Us" page is protected by a password.
Here's the bug: If I want to change text or anything on about us page > If I open About Us page by clicking EDIT and make the change and SAVE IT
The save change removes the password protection.
This could be a Reason: In 1.8v in password protected feature, the password was visible but atleast it used to remain there in the textbox of password but in 1.9v as soon as admin/store owner saves the page the password becomes invisible or goes away. So it works for the first time but when we make any changes to the password protected page - next time we hit the save button- it takes blank password - so result is page is again open to public.
Current Solution: Everytime store owner makes changes to the page, he/she have to enter the password again in the textbox before saving the content of the page.
