is it possible to merge the address and shipping steps to one step?
or hide confirm after selecting payment method?

What version ?
In the lastest versions tick "Ship to the same address" means it does not ask for shipping address
Re last confirmation - you need to customise to do that
The last confirmation is where it shows the total price for the customer
