Last year (september 2010) we spent some weeks doing research on different virtual store solutions in .Net technology. We mostly searched in other forums. Puting cost aside we opted for NOP for the following:
- A very well strutured architecture which is more adecuate for enhacenments
- A powerful young solution with constant new versions (around 3 per year) full of new features.

ASPdotnetstorefront has more features specially if you consider available addons, but everybody say it is very difficult to customize. They had a bad reputation for customer service and no recent versions/enhacements. Around september 2010 ownership changed and this might change.

Up to now after some months of work to create stores with some customization with  NC we still think we made the right decision. My advise: If you do not have programming skills and will relay on the solution out of the box and NC meets your needs go for it, if not then check if ADNSF can meet your needs. If you are going to do a lot of customization then NC is the right option too.

Thanks alot. That was helpful. One question though, do you think I can find someone to move data from AspDotNetStoreFront  to NopCommerce Database? This will be very helpful.

I have used aspdotnetstorefront from 2003 when they came out with the initial version. The architecture of aspdotnetstorefront is very solid. I have made numerous changes to the layer that passes data to the UI. It is not that hard. In the beginning of this year, the USPS made changes to their interface. This has caused us pain because we did not have sources to make the changes. To be successful, you have to have their source code. You are looking around $2000 for the sources. You have to pay some $90 for support. I did not have to use their support because the software was solid.

I have not used nopcommerce for any running site. I studied the various versions and the progression nop is making. They are on the right track. The technology the nop uses is very advanced, so someone proficient with these technologies require to make the modifications.

I would suggest you to invest some of your money in nop and make it great. The nop team is great.
