I see 1.6 as the best bundle of new features to come so far. I've been waiting for most of them for a while now.

Absolutely GREAT and EXTREMELY WELL DONE JOB guys!

Hopefully, it will not be an enterprise version : )

It will be nice if you can implement these functions:

1. Browse products by product types.
For example, someone may sell mosaics and tiles(Category) but these mosaics may be made of wood, stone, glass etc.  Browsing products by types providing store owners a secondary category classification, in many cases, it is necessary and very important.

2. More pricing units, for example, there are many products may only be sold by weight, area and volum.

3. Let store owners determine if they want to show the prices to unregistered customers or not.  So the store is catalog only to unregistered customers.
These can be implemented with three check boxes : show prices to everyone, only show prices to registered users and not show prices to any one(catalog only).

These are the functions that many business owners are looking for.  This will be a great extension of usage to Nopcommerce.

Check the Product Specification Feature in Nop 1.5

I guess that could match your requirement.

Thanks.
I can see product type was implemented in "manage products" page but can not see it be used any there else if I didnot missed something.
it will be great if to add a "filter by product type" on top of the "manage products" page at the backend and another module ProductTypeNavigation like CategoryNavigation at frontend.

Were is product specification?

It is not specification or attribute.  It is product type like standard, non standard, classified, non classified etc.  You can see in the product info tag but there is no way I can add a new type or edit a existing type.

Thanks

you can have a look at the Store demo : http://demo.nopcommerce.com/Category/51-notebooks.aspx

Is that what you mean?

Product type is global to all categories.  It is different from these filters inside a category.  For example, you are selling products that made of different materials.  You create categories: sheets, tiles, mosaics, inserts, moldings, borders and so on.  All the products in all these categories have something in common. They are either wood products or plywood products.  You could created subdirectories in each of these root directory.  But you can only browse wood products or plywood products in a certain directory.  Some customers may only want to buy wood products or plywood products but they have to go through all the directories and subdirectories to find their products. If there is a way like browsing by product type customers will find all wood products or plywood products in all the directories easily.  It is just one click.

Best Regards,

Thanks

For that, A simple fix would be to make all wood products belong to a manufacturer called "Wood Products" this can be in addition to their normal manufacturer, And than simply make the "display order" of the real manufacturers first, and the Type manufacturer's last.

This should work perfectly

Got you. So the product specification does work for you, but you want customers filter certain material of product from the full product list. In that case, you could go for either BK's way, or add a root category called 'All products' and put everything into it. A grouping function(by sub category etc.) in 1.6 might make this looks better. Agree?
